- What is check safekeeping?
Check safekeeping is service offered by banks to store your checks as images, usually on microfilm, rather than mailing the physical checks in monthly statements. This saves the bank, and ultimately the consumer, the cost of returning checks in the mail. A detailed accounting of your checks appears on your statement and it is possible to get images (usually 4 checks to a page) back with your statement, as well. Check images are also available within Online Banking.
